|  | Joe Courtney is a full-time USA Triathlon Level 1 Certified Coach and has been participating in Triathlon for over 10 years. Joe enjoys sharing his triathlon experience with our athletes to help them have a smoother journey through this excellent sport. Joe has participated in multiple Ironman events, Ironman 70.3, Olympic, and Sprint distance triathlons. His favorite event so far is Escape from Alcatraz because it puts his swimming skills to the test with the 1.5 mile swim across the San Francisco Bay, and the unforgiving hills on the bike, followed by trial by "Sand Ladder" on the run. Joe is also a Category 4 USA Triathlon Referee which gives him a good perspective on sportsmanlike participation in events. | | |

| Michael is a Level 1 Certified Coach with USA Triathlon. He has been involved in fitness instruction for over 6 years and has been a Triathlon Coach since 2007. Michael taught Spinning™ classes at several local Phoenix area fitness clubs before getting hooked on triathlon. With a background in Computer Engineering, Michael is definitely the triathlon geek which can be helpful when you need to know how to use your CompuTrainer, Garmin, Polar, or other training device. Michael is a Category 3 USA Triathlon Referee and will help you understand the rules of the road.
